Workshops :: Improving Your Cutting & Soldering

It all starts with cutting! If you fail to pay attention to this phase, it will haunt you throughout the entire project. Your short time spent with us will help you get it right the first time. Topics of instruction will include a discussion of the proper tools used in the cutting process; a demonstration of the proper techniques; followed by hands-on application of the techniques.

Without doubt, soldering is the single most important and technically demanding phase of art glass construction. While learning to solder is not particularly difficult, creating professional results can be. This workshop is designed for students who may not have had the benefit of professional instruction, those who may have been away from stained glass for a while or anyone having difficulty achieving a consistent, professional look. Topics of instruction will include a discussion of the proper tools used in the soldering process; a demonstration of the proper techniques used to achieve smooth lines, seamless joints & high finished beads; followed by intensive hands-on application of the techniques. The class will also cover proper post-soldering neutralizing and finishing techniques. Limit 8 students.
